Overview and Functions Performed by Tactical Holsters
According to a proverbial phrase, with great power, comes great responsibility. It is the basic thing, which one needs to keep in mind while carrying a firearm, as any inconsiderate action could lead to catastrophic results.
A holster, which
is a case or a pouch, helps in preventing such actions
by keeping a firearm confined, thereby restraining it from any unwanted
movement, which may cause a trigger.
Some highly used weapons by these
agencies, the P365, which do not
have manual safety in them, should always be kept in its P365 tactical holster to cover the trigger area. Retaining the
weapon is another important purpose of the holster. It ensures the weapon is
easily accessible only to the one carrying it and makes it difficult for anyone
else trying to seize it.
It comes in various security level based
features in order to protect the weapon; some have a strap over to secure the
weapon, some have a push button to release the weapon and so on.
Most holsters are made of leather or nylon
and can be attached to a belt and wore on different parts of the body, mainly
waist, thighs, back and ankles. Based on the wearing mode, holsters can be
classified as below:
·
OWB – Most common and
widely used holster as it is worn outside the waistband of the pant.
·
IWB –When it is worn on
the inside of the pants waistband.
·
AIWB – Appendix inside
the waistband is when it can be worn in front of the pants from the inside.
When the weapon needs to be concealed
while carrying, a tactical shoulder
holster is still considered the best option. In this, two straps are joined
together so it can be worn on both the shoulders. The holster can be mounted on
either strap. It provides higher level of comfort as the weight is spread in an
even manner on the back.
